A gorgeous late 17th century Kangxi blue and white goblet, ribbed and molded after European glass goblets from the same period, and decorated with curling tendrils of musk mallow (huang shukui 黄蜀葵) flowers in an atmosphere buzzing with insects. This goblet’s painting workmanship is especially fine and free; the flowers and insects seem alive with movement and charm.
