12-13th century Jin dynasty Porcelaineous stoneware with russet-splashed blackish brown glaze; Cizhou ware Diameter: 17 cm From a Northern California private collection [SOLD] A Jin dynasty 12-13th century bowl, glazed with an oily luscious black-slip glaze and decorated with iron-oxide russet splashes in the shape of flower petals. Stoutly potted with rounded walls, the bowl is formed with a crisp straight mouthrim and exposed footrim revealing a buff clay body. The smooth, light-colored paste is representative of Northern cizhou-type pottery around the Hebei region. |
